Al Sadd Sports Club were crowned champions of the Qatar Swimming Cup Championship for the 2025/2026 sports season after delivering outstanding performances and high technical standards throughout the competition, which featured elite swimmers representing various local clubs. Al Sadd secured the championship title deservedly after collecting the highest number of points across different races, reaffirming their status as one of Qatar’s leading swimming clubs. The club also continued its remarkable achievements during the current season by winning the Overall Excellence Shield for the 2025 sports season, reflecting strong technical and administrative stability, as well as continuous efforts to develop swimmers across different age groups. In the Junior Swimming Festival competitions, Al Wakrah Sports Club claimed the championship cup following the impressive results achieved by their swimmers during the event. The closing ceremony was attended by Ibrahim yousef al Bouainain, Secretary-General of the Qatar Aquatics Federation, and Rashed Khalid Al Mohannadi, Board Member and National Teams Director. Al Bouainain crowned the winners and presented both the championship cup and the Overall Excellence Shield to Al Sadd. Al Bouainain praised the technical level displayed by the swimmers throughout the competition, emphasizing that the championship successfully achieved its technical and organizational objectives while helping to highlight many promising talents. He also stressed the federation’s continued support for such championships, which represent a key pillar in the development of swimming in the State of Qatar. For their part, Al Sadd officials expressed their delight with this double achievement, stating that the accomplishment was the result of teamwork and proper planning, while also appreciating the support provided by the club’s management and technical and administrative staff. The championship concluded with the crowning of winners across various age categories. Al Wakrah Sports Club won the 11–12 years category, while Al Sadd Sports Club claimed the 13–14 years and 15–16 years categories. Al Ahli Sports Club secured the 17–18 years title, while Al Shamal Sports Club won the overall category title. The championship received wide praise for its excellent organization and strong level of competition, reflecting the federation’s continued success in organizing events that contribute to the advancement of Qatari swimming.

The curtain came down on the swimming competitions of the 4th Gulf Games – Doha 2026 after four days full of excitement and intense competition, marked by clear Qatari dominance in both results and medal standings, in an edition that reflected the rapid development of Gulf swimming in general and Qatari swimming in particular. Qatari swimmers imposed their superiority from the opening day of the competitions on May 12, achieving new Gulf records in both timings and medal counts. Benefiting from high technical and physical readiness, as well as valuable experience gained from recent continental and international participations, they maintained a strong presence on the podium throughout the championship. The competitions featured some of the Gulf’s top swimmers in sprint, distance, and relay events, with fierce competition among the national teams. However, Team Qatar successfully secured the top position thanks to their balanced team performance and the outstanding results achieved by their swimmers across various categories. Qatari swimming topped all events, raising its tally to 26 medals: 13 gold, 9 silver, and 4 bronze medals, to deservedly claim first place and reaffirm its position as one of the leading Gulf powers in aquatic sports in recent years. Qatar’s achievement came as a result of a series of strong performances delivered by the swimmers across different races, with several athletes winning multiple medals. Young talents also emerged alongside experienced swimmers, reflecting the success of the development and preparation programs adopted by the Qatar Aquatics Federation to build a competitive base capable of excelling regionally and continentally. Qatar’s superiority was not limited to the number of medals alone, but also extended to the quality of performances and technical standards displayed throughout the competitions. Qatari swimmers achieved remarkable times in several races while maintaining consistent positive results throughout the championship, giving the team a clear advantage in the overall standings. Relay races were also among the key moments that strengthened Qatar’s dominance, as the swimmers demonstrated excellent harmony and the ability to manage races under pressure. The competitions witnessed closely matched levels among several Gulf teams, adding further excitement until the final day. Qatari swimmers Saad Al-Din Sami Saad Al-Din, Mohammed Mahmoud, Emil Fawzi, Tamim Al-Hamaideh, Hamza Shaalan, and Mohammed Aziz Ismail delivered strong performances, directly contributing to Qatar’s impressive medal haul and confirming the continued progress of Qatari swimming and its ability to compete strongly in regional and continental championships. Doha – March 31, 2026 Today, Tuesday, March 31, 2026, the new name of the Qatar Swimming Association was officially announced as the “Qatar Aquatics Federation”, during the General Assembly meeting held in the presence of the Federation President, Mr. Mubarak bin Ali Al Nuaimi, members of the Board of Directors, representatives of Qatari clubs, and individual members. This announcement comes as part of the Federation’s strategic direction to develop its sports system and strengthen its institutional presence, in line with the expansion across various aquatic sports. The new name reflects a modern and comprehensive vision that supports sports growth and enhances competitiveness at both regional and international levels, in alignment with the naming adopted by the International Federation for aquatic sports. The General Assembly also reviewed and discussed several key agenda items, including future development plans, athlete preparation programs, and the achievements accomplished over the past year. In addition, discussions covered ways to enhance cooperation with local clubs to support and develop emerging talents. Federation officials emphasized that this step represents a significant milestone in the development of aquatic sports in the State of Qatar, highlighting the importance of collaboration between the Federation and clubs to achieve the desired strategic objectives. The Qatar Swimming Association organized a special honoring ceremony for the national swimming team, who achieved a major accomplishment by topping the general category in the 4th Arab Aquatics Championships, recently hosted by Morocco, with 20 medals. The ceremony was attended by Mr. Mubarak Al Nuaimi, President of Qatar Swimming Association, members of the Board of Directors, parents of the players, and technical and administrative staff. Everyone praised the great efforts made by the swimmers and the technical and administrative staff to achieve this accomplishment. During the ceremony, the champions were honored for their record haul of medals to Qatar, emphasizing that this accolade reflects the extent of development achieved by swimming in the country thanks to the great support of the Qatar Olympic Committee and the Association's efforts in preparing a promising generation of champions. Qatar National Swimming Team Wins First Place at the 4th Arab Aquatic Sports Championships Our national swimming team clinched first place in the senior category at the 4th Arab Aquatic Sports Championships for age groups, held at the Olympic Swimming Pool in Casablanca, Morocco, with a record participation of 19 Arab countries competing in swimming, water polo, and open water events. Team Qatar concluded its participation with an impressive tally of 20 medals: 10 gold, 4 silver, and 6 bronze, at the end of the fourth and final day—an achievement that reflects the outstanding performance of the Qatari swimmers. The final day witnessed remarkable performances: • Mohamed Mahmoud won gold in the men’s 200m breaststroke (senior category) with a time of 2:20.24. • Adam Morsy claimed gold in the boys’ 200m breaststroke (13–14 years) clocking 2:29.24. • Ali Sayed secured gold in the men’s 100m butterfly (senior category) in 53.77 seconds. • The quartet of Ahmed Diab, Abdullah Al-Ghamri, Aziz Ismail, and Hamza Shaalan won silver in the 4x100m medley relay with a time of 3:51.65. Team Qatar also earned three bronze medals on the final day: • Aziz Ismail in the 100m butterfly (17–18 years) with a time of 56.13. • Hamza Shaalan in the 200m breaststroke (17–18 years) with a time of 2:24.80. • Abdullah Al-Ghamri in the 100m backstroke (17–18 years) with a time of 57.87. On the third day, the team added more golds: • Mohamed Mahmoud in the men’s 200m individual medley (senior category) with a time of 2:05.78. • Adam Morsy set a new Arab record in the boys’ 100m breaststroke (13–14 years) with a time of 1:09.35. • Ali Sayed won the men’s 50m freestyle (senior category) in 22.65 seconds. In team events, Diab, Al-Ghamri, Ismail, and Shaalan claimed silver in the 4x100m freestyle relay. Meanwhile, Ziad Morsy earned bronze in the boys’ 50m backstroke (15–16 years) with 28.48 seconds, and Al-Ghamri took another bronze in the boys’ 200m backstroke (17–18 years) clocking 2:09.65. The second day featured: • Ali Sayed winning gold in the men’s 100m freestyle (senior category) with a time of 49.12. • Adam Morsy claiming gold in the boys’ 50m breaststroke (13–14 years) with 31.23, setting a new championship record. • Mohamed Mahmoud adding a bronze in the men’s 400m individual medley (senior category) with a time of 4:37.76. Qatar’s strong start came on the opening day with: • Two golds for Ali Sayed in the men’s 50m butterfly and 50m freestyle (senior category). • Gold for Mohamed Mahmoud in the men’s 50m breaststroke (senior category) clocking 28.53. • Gold for Adam Morsy in the boys’ 50m breaststroke (13–14 years) with 31.23. • Hamza Shaalan winning silver in the boys’ 50m breaststroke (17–18 years) with 29.13. • The Qatari relay team securing silver in the 4x200m freestyle. • Mohamed Mahmoud adding another bronze in the 400m individual medley. Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Ibrahim Al-Buainain, Secretary-General of the Qatar Swimming Association and head of the mission, expressed his pride in the results: “The achievements of our national team in this championship confirm the remarkable progress of Qatari swimming across all age groups and highlight the increasing technical level of our swimmers in Arab competitions. The Qatar Swimming Federation's electoral general assembly elected Mr. Mubarak Ali Al-Nuaimi as president of the federation for the next session 2024-2028. This came during the electoral general assembly meeting that was held in the Lusail Hall of the Qatar Olympic Committee today, Wednesday, November 27, 2024, in the presence of all members and after the legal quorum for the elections was completed and in the presence of representatives of the Qatar Olympic Committee, Mr. Ebrahim Youssef Al-Boinin was also elected as Secretary-General of the Federation and Mr. Hussein Saleh Al-Sada, Rashid Khalid Al-Mohannadi and Saoud Muhammad Al-Jehani as members of the Board of Directors. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Khalil Ibrahim Al Jaber, the former President of the Federation, and attended by the members of the Board of Directors. Al Jaber wished the elected Board success and expressed his confidence in the new administration to achieve the desired goals and upcoming entitlements by sitting on the podiums and completing the journey of the Qatar Swimming Federation with its three games: swimming, diving and water polo. During the meeting, the achievements of the Qatar Swimming Federation in recent years were reviewed, as well as the plans for the 2024-2025 sports season, which seek to increase the hosting of various sporting events, including swimming, diving, water polo, and community activities, which in turn raise awareness in the community about practicing various water sports under the slogan “Swimming for All”, which aims to develop young talents in the country. During the meeting, the Federation’s financial budget was approved, the minutes of the previous meeting were ratified, and the future strategy of the Federation was discussed, as well as plans to prepare the sports teams for the three games in preparation for the upcoming events. In turn, Mr. Mubarak Ali Al Nuaimi, President of the Federation, thanked the members of the General Assembly and the members of the old council for their great efforts in developing the sport of swimming and achieving positive results locally and internationally and hosting major international events that have had great resonance and success on the global level. The President of the Federation also announced the directives of His Excellency Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Olympic Committee, with the blessing of the General Assembly, that Mr. Khalil Al Jaber be the Honorary President of the Federation for his extensive experience and for his contributions to the service of Qatari swimming. The President expressed his aspirations for the Federation to continue its series of achievements and successes in the Federation’s three sports and achieve the best results in the coming period, especially since the country is about to host the 2030 Asian Games, stressing the need to continue cooperation and partnership with various institutions, clubs, sports bodies and private centers in the country to advance Qatari swimming towards achieving more successes and excellence.

Khaled Abdullah, a member of the Board of Directors of the Swimming Association, handed over the shield to Reem Al-Buainain, Head of the Swimming Department at Al Sadd Club, who expressed her pride in this achievement, praising the efforts of the swimmers and technical staff. On the other hand, Al-Wakrah Club won the title of the 2024 Swimming Festival Championship, achieving great success in the competitions in which many Qatari clubs participated.

Doha, Qatar, 24 January 2024: The World Aquatics Championships – Doha 2024 is delighted to announce nine athlete ambassadors ahead of the flagship event being held in Qatar and the Middle East for the first time between 2 and 18 February 2024. More than 2,600 of the world’s best aquatics athletes will head to Qatari capital Doha next week looking to secure World Championship glory, while a number of qualification spots for the Olympic Games Paris 2024 are also available. Now, the Doha 2024 Organising Committee has announced a stellar line-up of ambassadors, including former World Champions, Olympic medallists and star athletes preparing to compete in the Championships. The ambassadors come from nine different countries, three separate continents and represent four of the six disciplines taking place in Doha during the 17 days of exciting competition. Nada Mohamed Wafa Arakji became the first Qatari women to compete at the Olympic Games when she swam at London 2012 and is the host country’s ambassador. Joining Nada is Yusra Mardini, originally from Syria before taking refugee status. Mardini was named as one of TIME magazine’s 100 most influential people in 2022 after competing for the Olympic Refugee Team at Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020. Representing Africa will be Tunisia’s Ahmed Hafnaoui, who will gain plenty of support as he looks to defend the two gold medals he won at last year’s World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, Japan, two years after stunning the swimming world when he finished first in the men’s 400m freestyle at Tokyo 2020. Three-time Olympic gold medallists Anthony Ervin (USA) and Ranomi Kromowidjojo (Netherlands) and Olympic champion Pernille Blume (Denmark) will also serve as ambassadors in Doha. These legends of the swimming pool have won more than 20 World Championships medals between them during their distinguished careers. Water polo legend, two-time world champion and multiple World Player of the Year Filip Filipovic will be keeping a close eye on his former Serbia teammates, while Olympic medallist in Artistic Swimming Ona Carbonell Ballestero and 3m springboard diver turned professional high-diver Alain Kohl from Luxembourg will also be in Doha promoting the Championships. Doha, Qatar, 3 January 2024: The first ever World Aquatics Championships to be held in the Middle East begin in 30 days’ time as Qatar prepares to host the flagship event between 2 and 18 February. DOHA – The six-day competition of the Arab Aquatics Age Group Championship 2024 were successfully concluded at the Aspire Dome on Monday. The event closing day has seen a perfect swimming from teams in open water class , Tunisia team claimed the first place, Morrocco finished second , while the third place went to Syrian team. Earlier in Sunday’s competitions, team Qatar won two medals including one silver medal and one bronze medal at the 5km open water event of the Second Arab Aquatics Age Group Championships. Mohamed Ismail took the silver medal of boys event (14-15 years) after finishing the race in 1.09.29 hours behind Rami Rahmouni of Tunisia who claimed the gold medal while Adam Ahmed of Sudan finished third. At the medal ceremony on Monday, Khaleel Al Jaber, Director General of the local Organising Committee of Doha 2024 World Aquatics Championships and Taha Al Kishry, President of Arab Swimming Federation crowned the top three winners.

Nahim and Mayfara are intimately tied to Qatar’s heritage and represent the inclusivity of the World Aquatics Championships and its commitment to promoting sustainability. The whale shark is the world’s biggest fi sh and commonly found in the safety of Qatari waters. The gentle giant, Nahim, a funny, friendly, and fun character that will be on hand to entertain the crowds. Mayfara, refl ects the vibrancy and diversity of the coral ecosystem with a family of clownfi sh living in her fringe anemone and a laid-back starfi sh on her forehead. A great team player, Mayfara will raise awareness about the importance of protecting our oceans and help to light up the World Aquatics Championships, Doha 2024.
