In the Junior Swimming Festival competitions, Al Wakrah Sports Club claimed the championship cup following the impressive results achieved by their swimmers during the event. The closing ceremony was attended by Ibrahim yousef al Bouainain, Secretary-General of the Qatar Aquatics Federation, and Rashed Khalid Al Mohannadi, Board Member and National Teams Director. Al Bouainain crowned the winners and presented both the championship cup and the Overall Excellence Shield to Al Sadd. This announcement comes as part of the Federation’s strategic direction to develop its sports system and strengthen its institutional presence, in line with the expansion across various aquatic sports. The new name reflects a modern and comprehensive vision that supports sports growth and enhances competitiveness at both regional and international levels, in alignment with the naming adopted by the International Federation for aquatic sports. The General Assembly also reviewed and discussed several key agenda items, including future development plans, athlete preparation programs, and the achievements accomplished over the past year. In addition, discussions covered ways to enhance cooperation with local clubs to support and develop emerging talents. Team Qatar concluded its participation with an impressive tally of 20 medals: 10 gold, 4 silver, and 6 bronze, at the end of the fourth and final day—an achievement that reflects the outstanding performance of the Qatari swimmers. The Qatar Swimming Federation's electoral general assembly elected Mr. Mubarak Ali Al-Nuaimi as president of the federation for the next session 2024-2028. This came during the electoral general assembly meeting that was held in the Lusail Hall of the Qatar Olympic Committee today, Wednesday, November 27, 2024, in the presence of all members and after the legal quorum for the elections was completed and in the presence of representatives of the Qatar Olympic Committee, Mr. Ebrahim Youssef Al-Boinin was also elected as Secretary-General of the Federation and Mr. Hussein Saleh Al-Sada, Rashid Khalid Al-Mohannadi and Saoud Muhammad Al-Jehani as members of the Board of Directors. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Khalil Ibrahim Al Jaber, the former President of the Federation, and attended by the members of the Board of Directors. Al Jaber wished the elected Board success and expressed his confidence in the new administration to achieve the desired goals and upcoming entitlements by sitting on the podiums and completing the journey of the Qatar Swimming Federation with its three games: swimming, diving and water polo. During the meeting, the achievements of the Qatar Swimming Federation in recent years were reviewed, as well as the plans for the 2024-2025 sports season, which seek to increase the hosting of various sporting events, including swimming, diving, water polo, and community activities, which in turn raise awareness in the community about practicing various water sports under the slogan “Swimming for All”, which aims to develop young talents in the country. Al Sadd Club was crowned with the 2024 Swimming Excellence Shield for the eighth consecutive season, and the thirteenth in its history, after the conclusion of the Qatar Swimming Cup Championship held at the Education City Complex. Khaled Abdullah, a member of the Board of Directors of the Swimming Association, handed over the shield to Reem Al-Buainain, Head of the Swimming Department at Al Sadd Club, who expressed her pride in this achievement, praising the efforts of the swimmers and technical staff. On the other hand, Al-Wakrah Club won the title of the 2024 Swimming Festival Championship, achieving great success in the competitions in which many Qatari clubs participated.

Doha, Qatar, 24 January 2024: The World Aquatics Championships – Doha 2024 is delighted to announce nine athlete ambassadors ahead of the flagship event being held in Qatar and the Middle East for the first time between 2 and 18 February 2024. More than 2,600 of the world’s best aquatics athletes will head to Qatari capital Doha next week looking to secure World Championship glory, while a number of qualification spots for the Olympic Games Paris 2024 are also available. Now, the Doha 2024 Organising Committee has announced a stellar line-up of ambassadors, including former World Champions, Olympic medallists and star athletes preparing to compete in the Championships. The ambassadors come from nine different countries, three separate continents and represent four of the six disciplines taking place in Doha during the 17 days of exciting competition. Nada Mohamed Wafa Arakji became the first Qatari women to compete at the Olympic Games when she swam at London 2012 and is the host country’s ambassador. Joining Nada is Yusra Mardini, originally from Syria before taking refugee status. Mardini was named as one of TIME magazine’s 100 most influential people in 2022 after competing for the Olympic Refugee Team at Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020. Representing Africa will be Tunisia’s Ahmed Hafnaoui, who will gain plenty of support as he looks to defend the two gold medals he won at last year’s World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, Japan, two years after stunning the swimming world when he finished first in the men’s 400m freestyle at Tokyo 2020. Three-time Olympic gold medallists Anthony Ervin (USA) and Ranomi Kromowidjojo (Netherlands) and Olympic champion Pernille Blume (Denmark) will also serve as ambassadors in Doha. These legends of the swimming pool have won more than 20 World Championships medals between them during their distinguished careers. All the brass used in the manufacturing process is recycled locally, underscoring the event’s commitment to sustainability. Each medal reflects the terrain of the country and key elements of Qatari and Doha life. DOHA – The six-day competition of the Arab Aquatics Age Group Championship 2024 were successfully concluded at the Aspire Dome on Monday. The event closing day has seen a perfect swimming from teams in open water class , Tunisia team claimed the first place, Morrocco finished second , while the third place went to Syrian team. Earlier in Sunday’s competitions, team Qatar won two medals including one silver medal and one bronze medal at the 5km open water event of the Second Arab Aquatics Age Group Championships. Mohamed Ismail took the silver medal of boys event (14-15 years) after finishing the race in 1.09.29 hours behind Rami Rahmouni of Tunisia who claimed the gold medal while Adam Ahmed of Sudan finished third. At the medal ceremony on Monday, Khaleel Al Jaber, Director General of the local Organising Committee of Doha 2024 World Aquatics Championships and Taha Al Kishry, President of Arab Swimming Federation crowned the top three winners.
