Mr. Mubarak bin Ali Al Nuaimi, President of the Qatar Aquatics Federation, said the “Seashore Doha 4×4 Water Polo Championship” forms part of the Federation’s strategy to develop the sport. He stressed that its ambitions extend beyond organising domestic tournaments to building a Qatari national team capable of competing and achieving strong results at international events.
Al Nuaimi revealed that the Federation intends to work towards including 4×4 water polo in the Olympic Games programme, while also pursuing its inclusion in the Asian Games, known as the “Doha 2030 Asian Games”. He noted that developing this format could broaden the sport’s appeal and introduce it to new groups of players and spectators.
The Federation president explained that the tournament provided an opportunity to identify promising Qatari talent. He added that the participation of teams from Qatar and other Gulf and Arab countries enhanced the technical quality of the competition and provided players with valuable competitive experience.
“The aim is to prepare and develop a national team capable of achieving accomplishments and winning medals,” Al Nuaimi said, emphasising that building a strong national team is one of the Federation’s key priorities for the coming period. The objective is to compete in international tournaments and challenge for top positions.
He also highlighted the distinctive appeal of 4×4 water polo, describing it as a community-oriented sport capable of attracting both players and spectators. He praised the strong public attendance throughout the three-day championship.
Al Nuaimi added that the teams had delivered an “outstanding” level of performance, noting that the tournament’s technical quality and popularity would encourage the Federation to continue organising similar events and expanding the sport’s participation base across Qatar.
He expressed his gratitude to all the organisations and partners that contributed to the event’s success, particularly Old Doha Port, which hosted the competition, and Seashore Group for its support. He stressed that partnerships between sports organisations and supporting entities are essential to the success of sporting events.
The Federation president also highlighted Qatar’s achievements at the 20th Asian Games, Aichi-Nagoya 2026, in Japan. He noted that the Qatar Aquatics Federation was among the national federations that contributed to Qatar’s medal-winning performances, adding that efforts would continue to build on these achievements and deliver further success in the future.
