The event
Qatar Aquatics Federation will stage the Doha Water Polo 4x4 tournament on a floating field installed on the harbour water at Old Doha Port, over three days in October.
Water Polo 4x4 is the open-water format of the sport, played four against four on a compact floating field. World Aquatics issued a standalone rule set for the format in February 2026 and held the inaugural World Championships in September 2026. The tournament was previously staged at Old Doha Port and returns
Evening sessions
The Federation would like to extend play into the evening, with the closing matches held under floodlights. Water polo on open water lights particularly well after dark, and evening sessions would draw a larger audience from the promenade and produce stronger photography and video of the venue.
